National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the JEE Main 2024 exam across different examination centers in India in an online computer-based mode. JEE Main is one of India’s most prestigious engineering exams.

Thousands of candidates nationwide apply for JEE Mains 2024 in hopes of getting admitted to one of India’s highest-ranked universities, such as IITs or NITs.

NTA conducts this national-level entrance exam For engineering admission (B.E./B.Tech.) and architecture (B.Arch/B.Plan.) programs at NITs, IIITs, SFIs, State Engineering Colleges of the participating states, and other JEE Main participating institutions.

The following are the educational requirements for JEE Main 2024 for candidates willing to get admissions in B.E., B.Tech., B.Arch., and B.Plan. programs at the several NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs that are taking part through the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).

• Age Limit: No minimum age limit is required for admissions to JEE Main colleges.
• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have cleared Class 12 or an equivalent exam in the year 2021 or 2022. Appearing students are also eligible.

• • Students must have chemistry, physics, and mathematics as their compulsory subjects in Class 12.
  • Candidates must score at least 75% in the 12th Board examination for the BTech program for general category students, 65% for reserved category candidates, and a minimum of 50% marks for the BArch program.
• Maximum Attempts: For three years in a row, a candidate may sit for JEE Main twice a year. Hence, a candidate can have six attempts to appear for the JEE Main 2024 exam.

The JEE Main 2024 Paper 1 consists of Math, Physics, and Chemistry while Paper 2A contains Math, Aptitude, and Drawing. Candidates can choose to take the test during one or both sessions. Questions on Mathematics, Aptitude, and Planning will be included in Paper 2B. 

• Examination Mode: JEE Main Paper 1 for B.E. or B.Tech. courses is conducted as a computer-based online exam.
• Duration: The duration of the exam is 3 hours.
• Subjects: The exam covers topics from physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
• Types of Questions: Total 90 questions, with 20 questions in Section A and 10 in Section B in MCQ format.
• Candidates can attempt 75 questions (300 marks) with 20 questions in Section A and 5 questions in Section B for each subject: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
• Marking Scheme: Every correct answer carries 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.

• Examination Mode: JEE Main 2024 Paper 2A for B.Arch courses is conducted in online CBT mode.
• Sections of the Paper: JEE Main Paper 2A is divided into three parts. 
  • Part-I: Mathematics (CBT mode)
  • Part-II: Aptitude Test (CBT mode)
  • Part-III: Drawing Test (Offline mode)
• Duration: The total duration of the exam is 3 hours.
• Mathematics: This section has 20 MCQs and 10 numerical value-based questions. 
  • Candidates are required to attempt only 5 out of the 10 numerical-based questions.
• Aptitude: The Aptitude section consists of 50 MCQs.
• Drawing Test: This part assesses candidates’ sketching and drawing skills and includes 2 questions.
• Marking Scheme: 
  • Each correct answer in the Mathematics and Aptitude sections has 4 marks.
  • For incorrect answers, 1 mark is deducted for both MCQs and numerical-based questions.
• Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for unanswered questions.

• Examination Mode: JEE Main 2024 Paper 2A for B.Planning courses is conducted in online CBT mode.
• Duration: The exam duration is 3 hours.
• Sections of the Paper: The exam comprises three parts – Mathematics, General Aptitude, and Planning Skills.
• Mathematics Part: This section has 20 MCQs and 10 numerical value-based questions. 
  • Candidates are required to attempt only 5 out of the 10 numerical-based questions.
• General Aptitude Part: It consists of 50 MCQs.
• Planning Skills Part: This part comprises 25 MCQ-based questions.
• Marking Scheme: Every correct answer has 4 marks each, while 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
• Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for unanswered questions. Negative marking applies to both MCQs and numerical-based questions.

• Counselling Registration:

• • Visit JoSAA’s official website and log in using the roll number.
  • Fill out the registration form with your personal and educational details and confirm registration.

• Online Choice Filling and Locking:

• • Next, students must select the university /institute type, name, and academic program or course they wish to pursue.
  • Then, fill in your preferences and lock in your choices carefully.

• Seat Allotment:

• • The seat allotment results will be released by the NTA based on the category, JEE Main 2024 rank, choice filling, and vacancies in that institute.
  • Candidates will receive the seat allotment letter via SMS/email.

• Fee Payment and Seat Acceptance:

• • Candidates are required to pay the acceptance fees to confirm their allotted seat.
  • Aspirants are required to complete the payment via credit or debit card or net banking.
  • Download the fee payment for seat allotment slip in PDF format as proof.

• Float, Freeze, Slide, or Withdraw: This option is available for candidates who are not satisfied with their allotted seats.

• • Float: Keep the allotted seat.
  • Freeze: Accept the assigned seat and opt out of further rounds.
  • Slide: Upgrade program at the same institute.
  • Withdraw: Withdraw seat acceptance before the final round.

• Reporting to the Allotted College:

• • Candidates are required to report to the allotted college on the specified date and time.
  • Additionally, students must carry all their original certificates and documents for admissions procedures.
  • Then, students must pay the remaining admission fees within the prescribed deadline.

Moreover, students must note that the JEE Main Counselling Fees 2024 for the general category are INR 45,000 and INR 20000 for SC, ST, OBC, and Gen-PwD category students.
