IELTS

IELTS, or the International English Language Testing System, is one of the most recognized tests for assessing English proficiency worldwide. Two Versions of IELTS:

Educational Requirements:

The IELTS exam tests four key language skills—Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

Listening Section (30 minutes):

• Number of Questions: 40 questions
• Content: Four recordings (monologues and conversations) will be played, and candidates will need to answer a variety of question types.
• Skills Assessed: Understanding main ideas, recognizing opinions, and following the development of arguments.

Reading Section (60 minutes):

• Number of Questions: 40 questions
• Content: Three reading passages taken from books, journals, magazines, or newspapers.
• Skills Assessed: Understanding main ideas, identifying writer’s opinions, skimming, and detailed reading comprehension.
• For Academic Version: Texts are more formal and academic in nature.
• For General Training Version: Passages are taken from everyday work and social contexts.

Writing Section (60 minutes):

• Number of Tasks: 2 writing tasks.
• Task 1: For the Academic test, candidates must describe a chart, graph, or diagram. For General Training, candidates write a letter.
• Task 2: In both versions, candidates write an essay responding to a point of view or problem.
• Skills Assessed: Organizing ideas, grammar accuracy, vocabulary usage, and the ability to present coherent arguments.

Speaking Section (11–14 minutes):

• Part 1 (Introduction and Interview): General questions about yourself, family, work, and interests.
• Part 2 (Individual Long Turn): Candidates are given a task card with a topic and must speak for 2 minutes on it.
• Part 3 (Discussion): Discussion based on Part 2, covering more abstract ideas and issues.
• Skills Assessed: Fluency, pronunciation, coherence, and the ability to express ideas clearly.
